400+ attendees, 264 punch cards, 175 Chick-fil-A sandwiches, 88 flu shots, 51 point-of-care testing sessions, 35 organizations, 25 new individuals registered to a national bone marrow donor registry, 4 pumpkins, and 1 mayoral proclamation—that was the impact of APhA-ASP's 21st annual Pharmtoberfest last year, and we're hoping to go even bigger this year!
APhA-ASP is proud to plan and organize the largest event at the College of Pharmacy, Pharmtoberfest. An annual health fair that takes place in October to recognize and celebrate American Pharmacists Month, Pharmtoberfest engages the University of Georgia and Athens community and showcases the value pharmacists bring to the healthcare team.
SAVE THE DATE: This year's Pharmtoberfest event will take place on Tuesday, October 29th from 11:00am to 2:00pm on DW Brooks Lawn on the main UGA Campus (directly outside of Pharmacy South, Wilson Pharmacy, and the Science Learning Center).
Sponsored by Kroger and supported by the College, last year's event was kicked off by Mayor Kelly Girtz, who issued a proclamation recognizing October 2023 as American Pharmacists Month in Athens-Clarke County. During the event, attendees were encouraged to visit booths hosted by the College's numerous organizations and community partners—like the Department of Public Health and Cancer Pathways—to learn more about everything from newly FDA-approved OTC birth control and naloxone to kidney health and healthy nutrition habits. Last year, more than 2,000 interactions with booths were documented!
